On July 26, 2021, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) announced it had selected all seven of the state’s local management entities/managed care organizations (LME/MCOs) that manage public behavioral health services to become regional specialized managed care plans for Medicaid beneficiaries with behavioral health disorders or intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
