North Carolina Awards Three Medicaid Healthy Opportunities Pilot Contracts
On May 27, 2021, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) awarded Healthy Opportunities Pilot contracts to three organizations: Community Care of the Lower Cape Fear, Access East, and Dogwood Health Trust. Each contract is valued at $2.3 million over the next five years. The pilot is slated to start in the spring of 2022.
The pilot is intended to test evidence-based interventions to reduce costs and improve health by addressing housing instability, transportation insecurity, food insecurity, interpersonal violence, and toxic stress for eligible Medicaid beneficiaries.
