North Carolina Medicaid Postpones Launch Of Foster Care Specialty Managed Care Plan

On March 23, 2021, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) notified stakeholders that it was postponing the launch of a specialty Medicaid managed care plan for children in foster care until July 1, 2023. NCDHHS issued this decision after reviewing stakeholder comment on its policy paper "North Carolina's Specialized Foster Care Plan,” issued on February 11, 2021. The state anticipates that the delay will allow time for additional design and input on key features of the Foster Care Plan for children and youth currently and formerly involved in the child welfare system.
