North Carolina Medicaid Raising Behavioral Health Reimbursement Rates For First Time Since 2012
On November 15, 2023, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) announced that it would increase reimbursement rates for Medicaid behavioral health services starting January 1, 2024. The rate increase, the first since 2012, is for provider organizations delivering mental health, addiction disorder, and intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD)-related services. In total, 17 services received a rate increase. Nine services did not receive an increase because many of these services had recently received material rate increases or will be subject to a reimbursement review through other processes.
