Ohio Creates New Initiative To Increase Access To Quality Child Care & Support Services For Children With Special Needs
On October 13, 2023, the newly formed Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) created an initiative to increase access to quality child care and support services for children with special needs. The initiative is called the Ohio Promote Resources, Opportunities, and Meaningful Inclusion through Support and Education (PROMISE) program. Through this program, the state intends to launch a pilot scholarship program for children with special needs whose families live at 146% to 200% of the federal poverty level so that the children can attend child care programs that achieve a new Inclusive Child Care Program designation.
