Ohio Sues Drug Companies Over Opiate Crisis

On May 31, 2017, the Ohio Attorney General sued multiple drug manufacturers and marketers of opioid pain relievers for misrepresenting the risks of opioids. The complaint names parent and subsidiary organizations of Purdue Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Cephalon, Johnson & Johnson, Janssen, Endo, Actavis, and Watson Pharmaceuticals. All defendants are accused of making false and deceptive statements in their marketing campaigns about the benefits of their various opioid medications and the risk of addiction. They are also accused of using a diverse group of seemingly independent third parties, such as the American Pain Foundation and the American Academy of Pain Medicine . . .
