Ohio To Expand Prison-Based Medication-Assisted Treatment Program Statewide By October 1, 2022
On September 1, 2022, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) announced that the state will expand medication assisted addiction treatment (MAT) to all state prison facilities by October 1, 2022. ODRC’s Lorain Correctional Institution (LorCI) is the first to offer the new MAT services in collaboration with Community Medical Services. Adult inmates can now receive treatment with methadone oral concentrate and buprenorphine/naloxone films upon arrival at LorCI.
Currently OhioMHAS provides addiction recovery services for ODRC inmates who qualify for treatment for alcohol dependence and/or . . .
