Ohio’s certified peer recovery support (PRS) workforce increased by more than 800 workers between 2023 and 2025, expanding from 2,709 PRS workers in September 2023 to 3,524 PRS workers in January 2025, according to a report by Ohio Peer Recovery Organizations (OhioPRO). Certified PRS workers bring lived experience related to the work they do to various behavioral health settings to help individuals navigate substance use treatment, mental health challenges, and recovery.
