Oklahoma Developmental Disabilities Services On Track To Clear 13-Year HCBS Waitlist Within Two Years

As of July 2023, the Oklahoma Department of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) said it was halfway done clearing its 13-year wait list for people seeking a slot for the Medicaid home-and-community-based services (HCBS) waiver. When DDS started conducting assessments in May 2022, more than 5,100 people were on the list, and about 65% had been waiting for seven years or longer. Because some had been waiting for much longer, the average wait time had been 13 years.

To start clearing the wait list, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) contracted with Liberty of Oklahoma . . .
