Older Adults With Multiple Chronic Conditions May Face A High Risk Of Kidney Function Decline

Among people age 60 and older, the risk of declining kidney function is linked to the number and type of comorbid chronic conditions, according to a longitudinal study that involved more than 3,000 people in Sweden. Over a 15-year follow-up period, 18.2% experienced a 25% or greater decline in eGFR compared to their baseline values. The average annual eGFR decline in the entire study population was 0.81.
