In 2023, one in six older adults received services that were funded by the Older Americans Act, and an analysis found that nutrition-related services had the highest utilization. The Older Americans Act was designed to offer seniors access to community and home-based support services, enabling them to maintain their independence for extended periods since 1965. In contrast to Medicaid, it lacks specific financial eligibility requirements for service qualification. It authorizes grants for state and community programs on aging.
