One-Third Of Massachusetts Juvenile Justice Population Also Involved With Child Welfare System
More than one-third of Massachusetts youth involved with the juvenile justice system are also involved with the child welfare system. Youth involved with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) account for 39% of the juvenile detention population supervised by the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (DYS). Youth involved with DCF account for 37% of the DYS committed caseload.
