One-Third Of Non-Profit Organizations Lost Funding In First Half Of 2025
About one-third of non-profit organizations in the United States experienced a disruption in their government funding in the first half of 2025, according to a survey of 2,737 organizations by the Urban Institute. Funding disruptions affected 36% of organizations in the health subsector and 34% of those in the human services subsector. The health subsector includes organizations that provide community clinics, substance abuse prevention services, and crisis prevention hotlines; it does not include hospitals. Organizations in the human services subsector include those that operate group homes and senior centers.
