Between March and December 2020, Ohio Medicaid provider organizations increased their use of telehealth services such that the number of paid claims for services delivered via telehealth rose from less than 1% of services to 22% in December 2020. In March 2020, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) implemented a temporary Medicaid waiver for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency that allowed for greater access to telehealth services to avoid interruptions in care.
