On August 8, 2017, Oregon Governor Kate Brown signed legislation to tighten up the state’s oversight of licensed long-term care settings. The new safety and quality regulations go into effect on January 1, 2018.

The legislation, "Oregon House Bill 3359 Of 2017, To Modify Safety & Quality Regulations For Licensed Long-Term Care Facilities” modifies civil penalties, license regulation and licensing fees for certain facilities regulated by the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS).
