Oregon Requires Students Be Screened For Risk Factors Of Dyslexia
Oregon is developing a plan to screen all incoming kindergarteners and first-graders in public schools for risk factors of dyslexia, a language-based learning disability. It is anticipated that the first screenings will take place in the fall of 2018. According to the plan, school districts will notify the parents of students who demonstrate risk for reading difficulties, and provide additional instructional support within the context of general education.
