Pennsylvania Clarifies New Sheltered Workshop Policies In DD Waiver Renewals

On March 3, 2017, the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), Department of Human Services (DHS), clarified the new sheltered workshop policies in its waiver proposals for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are not intended to force the sheltered workshops to close. The new policy is focused on increasing community integration for waiver participants. Provider organizations including those that provide sheltered workshops must provide opportunities for community integration activities that align with the waiver participants' interests.
