Pennsylvania Medicaid To Expand SMI Integrated Care Program In 2016

In 2016, the Pennsylvania Medicaid program will change its Integrated Care Program (ICP) for beneficiaries with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and substance use disorder (SUD) to incorporate value-based purchasing to encourage coordinated care. An ICP is the collection, integration, and documentation of key physical and behavioral health information that is used to develop a joint care plan for purposes of care management. The Pennsylvania Medicaid program currently has a pilot ICP for SMI and now the state plans to expand the ICP statewide.
