PPACA Projected To Increase Large Employer Health Care Costs By 8.4% Over Next 10 Years
Over the next decade, from 2014 through 2023, the various provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) directed at employers are projected to cumulatively increase large employer health care costs by 8.4%. The direct costs of complying with the PPACA plus the impact of indirect PPACA-related costs affecting employee health benefits are projected to cost large employers (defined as those with 10,000 or more employees) at least $151 billion over the decade, and possibly up to $186 billion, or from $4,800 to $5,900 per employee.
