Prevalence Of Alzheimer’s Disease Highest In Maryland, New York & Mississippi, Affecting More Than 12% Of Older Adults
The highest prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) was estimated in the east and southeastern regions of the United States, with the top 3 states being Maryland (12.9%), New York (12.7%), and Mississippi (12.5%). However, the U.S. states with the highest estimated number of people with AD were in California, Florida, and Texas.
When comparing U.S. counties with populations of 10,000 or more adults, aged 65 years and older, counties with the estimated highest prevalence of AD were concentrated in the southeast, northeast, and western U.S:
