Primary Care Professionals With Specialized Training Accurately Diagnosed Autism For Over 80% Of Children Referred With Developmental Delay
Primary care professionals who receive specialized training can make accurate autism diagnoses for 82% of young children referred for evaluation. Positive predictive value was 92.6%, and negative predictive value was 62.2%. Across six primary care sites in Indiana, there was no difference in overall diagnostic accuracy.
