Public School Enrollment Down 2.5% From 2019 To 2023

Between 2019 and 2023, public school enrollments decreased by 2.5%, from 50.8 million in 2019 to 49.5 million in 2023. The fall 2023 total enrollment counts show a decrease of 0.2% compared to fall 2022 counts, and a 2.5% decrease from the 2019 counts.

Changes in enrollment at different grade levels varied since 2019.
