Rate Of Pregnancy Delivery Inpatient Stays With At Least One Mental Health Disorder Diagnosis Increased 52% Between 2017 & 2020

From 2017 to 2020, the rate of pregnancy delivery inpatient stays (delivery stays) involving a mental health disorder diagnosis increased 52%. This is an increase from 6.9 per 100 delivery stays in 2017 to 10.5 per 100 delivery stays in 2020. The highest rate of increase (71%) occurred in "other non-Hispanic" women, and the lowest rate of increase (47%) occurred in Black non-Hispanic women. In all years from 2017 to 2020, rates of delivery stays involving a mental health disorder diagnosis increased for all races/ethnicities.
