Real U.S. Health Care Spending Increased 4.6% From 2023 To 2024
Health care spending in 2024 totaled nearly $5.3 trillion. After adjustments for inflation and for health care consumer and producer price indices, real health care spending in 2024 was 4.6% above 2023 levels. Total health care spending includes the amount spent by public and private entities on direct health care services and for related activities, such as administration of insurance, health research, and public health.
