Lower Relapse & Lower Rearrest Rates At One Year Among California Drug Court Participants In Pilot With Injected Vivitrol
Participants in a California drug court piloting the use of injected Vivitrol as treatment for opioid dependence had lower relapse rates and lower rearrest rates than offenders participating drug courts that offered other types of treatment. The pilot took place in a single drug court in San Diego County, California. Vivitrol is an extended-release injectable formulation of naltrexone that was approved in 2006 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of alcohol dependence and in 2010 for the treatment of opiate dependence.
