Reorganization Plan For Department Of Veterans Affairs To Include A 15% Workforce Cut

An upcoming reorganization at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) could include a 15% workforce cut from about 470,000 to 398,000 employees, in accordance with President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) workforce optimization initiative. This workforce decrease is intended to reduce VA employment to 2019 levels. The VA intends to publish its reorganization plan in June of 2025. A department-wide reduction in force will take place by the end of fiscal year 2025.
