Kansas Medicaid Eligibility Determinations Backlog Under-Reported By Four Times
On June 10, 2016, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) notified the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that the state’s backlog of Medicaid applications was four times larger than previously reported, and that earlier reports had been inaccurate. As of May 2016, KDHE had reported that the backlog was 3,480 applications, with 2,000 pending for more than 45 days.
