Risk Of Being Bedbound In Last Year Of Life Is 4.5 Times Higher For Community-Dwelling Older Adults With Dementia

The risk that an older adult living in the community would be bedbound in the last year of life was 4.5 times higher among those with probable dementia than those with possible or no dementia, according to a recent study.

The analysis was based on survey data about services used in the last year of life by 3,168 older adults who were living in the community at some point between 2011 and 2023.
