On June 16, 2021, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced that Vibrant Emotional Health (Vibrant) will be administrator of the new 988 dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (Lifeline). SAMHSA awarded Vibrant two five-year grants totaling $48 million. This funding also supports the national Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH), a subnetwork of the Lifeline. Vibrant, in partnership with SAMHSA, has administered the Lifeline since its creation in 2005.
