The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently released a report with strategies for increasing the use of cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp) for people with schizophrenia disorders. In that report, SAMSHA stated that CBTp should be standard treatment for this population. However, access to CBTp is limited, and only about 1% receive it, because few mental health professionals have been trained on the technique. As of 2015, about 0.1% of the mental health professionals had completed CBTp training.
