San Diego To Pilot A Real-Time Homeless Shelter Bed Finder App For Outreach Workers
On March 14, 2023, the San Diego County District Attorney (DA) announced plans to develop a new mobile application that would connect homeless individuals with shelter beds within minutes. Currently, it can take up to 10 days for an outreach worker to connect someone with a homeless shelter bed. By the time a bed is found, the homeless person has often changed location.
