San Luis Obispo County Advised To Develop Crisis Stabilization Alternatives For Children & Youth To Close Identified Gaps
A joint analysis by the County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency and Transitions-Mental Health Association (TMHA) recommends that San Luis Obispo County's Behavioral Health Department (SLOBHD) develop crisis stabilization alternatives for children and youth rather than continue to rely on emergency department or hospital/mental health facility holds. This would close gaps related to the lack of youth crisis stabilization units in the county, and the lack of psychiatric inpatient bed space for youth. This would also assure that services exist at all points along the care continuum for youth.
