San Luis Obispo County's Board of Supervisors approved a plan in August 2022 designed to reduce homelessness in the county by 50% in five years. Key elements of the plan are developing low-barrier housing and improving access to mental health and addiction treatment. Over the five-year initiative, the county anticipates developing housing for approximately 2,000 homeless people. The plan has six key initiatives called “Lines of Effort.” Each represents a series of related events, actions, or projects that combine to achieve a specific objective linked to the goal of reducing homelessness.
