Serious violent crimes committed by youth aged 12 through 17 years, including rape/sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault, declined by 87% between 1993 through 2019. In 1993, youth committed 1.1 million serious violent crimes, representing 26% of all serious violent crimes committed that year.
