Wearables & Smartphone Apps Increase Physical Activity Among People With Cardiovascular Disease
People with cardiovascular disease who used wearable devices and smartphone applications increased their physical activity more than those who did not use the digital interventions, according to a recent study. Compared with the control group, participants using wearables averaged 1,097 additional steps per day and 3.9 more minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity each day.
The researchers conducted a meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials published since January 2000 that evaluated wearable devices and smartphone applications designed to increase physical activity among people with cardiovascular disease.
