Some Medicare & Medicaid Integrated Care Plans Associated With Reduced Long-Term Nursing Home Use
A systematic review of 26 evaluations of integrated care plans (ICP) found associations between ICPs and reductions in long-term nursing home stays in two of three categories of ICPs. In three-quarters of the studies examining the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and three out of five studies examining fully integrated dual eligible special needs plans (FIDE-SNPs) and related aligned models, the evidence showed associated reductions in long-term nursing home stays.
