South Dakota To Implement Medicaid Expansion In July 2023
The South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) is preparing to expand Medicaid eligibility to uninsured childless, non-disabled adults ages 19 through 64 years earning 139% or less of the federal poverty line ($1,677 in monthly modified adjusted gross income for a single person) who are not eligible for Medicare. An estimated 27,800 adults are in the expansion population.
The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the necessary state plan amendments on May 23, 2023. DSS began accepting applications on June 1, 2023. The state will complete eligibility determinations within 45 days. The expansion . . .
