Sensory Intervention Including Staff Training And Environmental Changes Improves Quality Of Life For LTC Residents With Dementia

A structured intervention combining staff training, environmental modifications, and personalized sensory support improved quality of life for long-term care (LTC) residents with dementia and sensory impairments, according to a recent study.

At three months, residents in the intervention group showed statistically significant improvements on dementia-specific quality-of-life measures compared to a control group. Scores on the DEM-QOL-Feelings and DEM-QOL-Everyday Activities subscales were 7.75 and 7.58 points higher, respectively, while the control group showed declines over the same period.
