Telephone CBT-I May Improve Insomnia Symptoms Among Older Persons With Osteoarthritis Pain
Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) offered via telephone may improve sleep and fatigue among older persons with both insomnia and osteoarthritis pain. This is especially true for those in rural and medically underserved areas. Insomnia is a common problem involving trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or getting quality sleep. CBT-I is a technique for treating insomnia without medications, which aims to improve sleep by identifying and changing the thoughts and behaviors that affect the ability of a person to sleep well.
