TennCare Awards Statewide MCO Contracts For Integrated Physical, Behavioral & Long Term Care

The TennCare Medicaid managed care program is in the process of transitioning from regional managed care organization (MCO) contracts for physical health, behavioral health, and long-term care to three statewide, integrated, full-risk contracts. Following a competitive procurement process during 2013, TennCare awarded contracts to AmeriGroup, BlueCare Tennessee, and UnitedHealthcare. The contracts were signed December 27, 2013. The three-year contracts are followed by a one-year extension term. The contracts take effect on January 1, 2015, with full statewide implementation by December 31, 2015.
