Tennessee DIDD To Reduce Waitlist By Half For The TennCare Employment & Community First CHOICES Program
On November 2, 2021, TennCare and the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) announced plans to reduce the waitlist for the TennCare Employment & Community First (ECF) CHOICES Program. Funding for the plan is through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) temporary 10 percentage point increase to the Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAP) for Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS). The state intends to invest up to $400 million, with $137.5 million to raise wages for direct support professionals delivering HCBS and the remainder to reduce the ECF wait list by creating new waiver slots.
