Tennessee Reduces Gap In Employment Rates For Individuals With Disabilities By Five Percentage Points
The Tennessee Employment First Task Force reported that the gap in employment rates among persons with and without disabilities narrowed by 5.2 percentage points between 2017 and 2020. In 2020, among working age people between ages 16 and 64, 35% of those with disabilities and 74% of those without disabilities were employed. The 2020 gap is 39 percentage points. In 2017 the gap was 44.2 percentage points. The task force had previously set a goal of reducing the gap by five percentage points by 2023.
