Texas Decreases Use Of Antipsychotic Drugs In Nursing Facilities By 58.7%, From 28.8% In 2011 To 11.9% In 2020
Since 2011, Texas has decreased its use of antipsychotic drugs in nursing facilities by 58.7% to 11.9% in the second quarter of 2020. In 2011, Texas was ranked 51st in the nation for highest use of antipsychotic medications, with 28.8% of nursing facility residents receiving antipsychotic medications. This is the largest decrease in antipsychotic drug use of any state or territory in the U.S.
