On September 13, 2022, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission issued a Notice of Intent to Award a six-year STAR Health Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) contract to the incumbent Superior HealthPlan (Superior). STAR Health is a specialized Medicaid managed care plan for children and youth in foster care. Superior, a Centene subsidiary, has been the sole provider of STAR Health coverage since the program launched in 2008.
