Texas Medicaid Announces Intent To Award STAR+PLUS MCO Contracts To 7 Plans
On January 27, 2023, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) announced its intent to award contracts to seven managed care organizations (MCOs) for the state’s STAR+PLUS Medicaid managed care program. Four are incumbents and three are new plans. Operations are slated to begin on September 1, 2023, and will run for six years, followed by three two-year renewal options. Together, the plans will serve nearly 531,000 members.
