On December 7, 2022, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) released a request for proposals (RFP HHS0011152) for managed care organizations (MCOs) for the nearly 3.3 million beneficiaries eligible for the State of Texas Access Reform (STAR) and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs. There are 13 service areas. HHSC intends to contract with at least three MCOs in each service area for six years, followed by three, two-year renewal options. The current STAR and CHIP contracts are valued at approximately $9.7 billion.
