Texas Planning To Cover ABA Services For Children With Autism Through Medicaid Health Plans
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) plans to reimburse for applied behavioral analysis (ABA) services for children with autism enrolled in the state’s Medicaid managed care program. HHSC would pay Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) plans using a non-risk model until experience data is available to set capitated rates. The state asked the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to approve the requested changes to allow non-risk payments by February 1, 2022.
