Texas To Transition People Receiving Day Habilitation Waiver Services For I/DD To New Individualized Skills & Socialization Service By March 2023
By March 2023, the Texas Medicaid program will transition people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who are currently receiving day habilitation services to a new service called Individualized Skills and Socialization. This new service will replace the state’s day habilitation services in the Home and Community-based Services (HCS), Texas Home Living (TxHmL) and Deafblind with Multiple Disabilities (DBMD) programs. It will provide integrated services that maximize participation and integration in the community and is intended to bring Texas into compliance with federal rules on home- and community-based services (HCBS) settings.
