The NIH-Toolbox Cognitive Battery (NIHTB-CB) cognitive assessment tool can detect developmental changes in people with intellectual disability due to fragile X syndrome (FXS), Down syndrome (DS), and other causes. The test can detect developmental changes in children, adolescents, and young adults. The degree of sensitivity shown by this study, combined with prior work from the researchers, shows that many components of the test can be used as an outcome measure for treatment trials, without the risk of practice effects.
