Texas Dual Eligible Demonstration Initial Evaluation Finds Reduction In Medicaid Costs
The first three years of the Texas Dual Eligible Integrated Care demonstration (2015 through 2018) showed mixed results. During this time compared to a control group, there was only an 0.33% reduction in Medicare per member per month (PMPM) costs but a 6.6% reduction in Medicaid costs.
Medicare PMPM costs for the demonstration participants increased slightly from $1,422 to $1,492 from 2015 to 2018. For the comparison group, Medicare PMPM costs increased from $1,411 to $1,476.
